Marumo Gallants Football Club is a South African professional football club, participating in the Premier Soccer League (PSL). A national team, Gallants home games are currently played at Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium (Bloemfontein).

The Evolution of Marumo Gallants F.C
​Formerly known as Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila Football Club (T.T.M F.C.), the club was purchased by businessman Mr Ditonkana Abram Sello in 2021 and re-branded under the Marumo Gallants F.C. name.

The Premier League status was purchased in 2017 under the Bidvest Wits name as a first division team of the GladAfrica Championship. In 2020, Takuma Tsha Madzivhandila Football Club (T.T.M F.C.) purchased the Premier League status from Bidvest Wits, which was then sold in 2021, becoming the current Marumo Gallants F.C. brand.

Our name
Marumo is a Sesotho translation of a spear or sword
Gallants means brave, heroic, bold, courageous, daring, noble, gutsy
As Africans, we first need to acknowledge where we come from. Our roots, culture and being are very important. Marumo is a eulogy of our Chairman, Mr Ditonkana Abram Sello. Calling someone with his/her eulogy is one of the practices of people who come from Ga-Sekhukhune. It is an African way to show respect, honour and warming up a person’s heart. Marumo (spear) is a weapon used to fight enemies during a war. People who use spears are known to be brave and attack their opponents directly. When they win the war, they are regarded as gallant because they are brave, bold and courageous. They are looked at as heroic and noble by their fans.

The narrative of naming Marumo Gallants Football Club is a journey of the club from January 2021 to date. The club’s journey is likened to soldiers who went on a war and were almost defeated but because of their boldness and courage, they continued to fight, ultimately becoming victorious. The inclusion of green is symbolic of “camouflage” clothing worn by soldiers. Wearing the Marumo Gallants jersey means a player is ready to face any challenge and rise up as a champion. The chairman, as team “commander”, as well as all team members as Marumo Gallants “soldiers” pledge to supporters that Marumo Gallants will stand firm, will never give up and will always run towards victory.

Marumo Gallants F.C. is committed to social upliftment goals and remaining accessible to the community. Some of our CSR projects include:
  • The handover of a multi-purpose sports complex to Nkgonyeletse Senior Secondary in Ga Mashabela. The ribbon-cutting event was well attended by the community, the media and dignitaries (including the Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture - Nathi Mthethwa and the Minister of Basic Education - Angie Motshekga)
  • The distribution of soccer kits to schools, such as Mmotong Primary School in Sekhukhune
  • Environmental and community upliftment initiatives such as the Modimolle-Mokgophong Local Municipality community clean-up project as part of Mandela Day 2022 activities (in partnership with aQuella and 1Africa Consulting)
  • Supporting social causes through our content and activities

Club President
Mr Abram Sello
A Visionary Leader Driving Football, Education, and Community Upliftment

Marumo Gallants F.C. Chairman, Mr Ditonkana Abram Sello, hails from South Africa. A pharmacist by trade, Mr Sello is an astute businessman and academic. Previously the Head of Department of Pharmacy at the University of Limpopo, his passion for education forms part of his current role as a Senior Pharmacy Lecturer at the University. From a personal development perspective, he plans to complete a PhD qualification over the upcoming years.

Mr Sello was the Deputy Chairman of the Pharmaceutical Society of South Africa (PSSA) Southern Gauteng branch from 2006 to 2010. He was also part of the National Executive Committee for PSSA from 2006 until 2013.

A philanthropist at heart, Mr Sello participates in social impact projects both personally and as part of Marumo Gallants CSR activities. Community upliftment projects to date include providing assistance to disadvantaged schools and youth, building houses for community members in need in Ga Sekhukhune (Limpopo) and other much needed community-based initiatives around the country.

Acquiring a PSL team and establishing the Marumo Gallants brand is a culmination of Mr Sello’s love for football, keen business interests and passion for growth and development in Africa. His youth team and recently acquired ladies’ team are the result of his commitment to nurture young talent and support gender goals while driving business objectives. He is also the former owner of ABC Motsepe League team, Olledas F.C.
Management, Support & Technical Team
Marumo Gallants works with a team of experts comprising both in-house and outsourced specialists. This includes an administrative management and operational team, a strategic communications agency and highly experienced on-the-ground technical management team.

This combined team ensures that the club is well managed both on and off the field, as well as continually develop and implement strategies aimed at improving both the team’s performance and brand presence.
